Digital Reading - What's Essential?

Many of our students come to school with vast experience in the digital world but too often use digital tools in limited ways. Digital tools offer our students more opportunities as readers and writers.. How can we help to expand the definition of reading to include digital reading and texts, support digital reading as part of our schools, connect readers in new way and help teachers embed digital tools in everyday lessons? This session will explore how classroom teachers can focus on authenticity, intentionality and connectedness in order to help our students recognize the connection between in school and out-of-school digital reading.
