The very popular early-bird “Master It & Take It”, aka MITI, workshops at the CMTC conference will be offered once again in 2005. The cost of these early-bird MITI sessions includes one of the following devices: a digital camera, an iPod and iTalk combo, or a ReadingPen scanning, talking dictionary. You choose from the  escriptions below!

 
 

MITI-01 Introduction to YOUR Digital Camera

Sonja Gonzales, Fremont School District

Tuesday, 11/29/05, Nashua North, 7:30 to 8:30 am

A digital camera, recommended for classroom use, is included in the cost of this workshop. During this 1-hour early-bird session, participants learn the basic functions and features of their digital camera. Tips and techniques for taking quality digital images and a brief discussion of classroom integration strategies are

included. Participants practice taking, reviewing, and deleting images. Cost: $230

 

MITI-02 Introduction to YOUR iPod & iTalk Device

Maria Knee, Deerfield School District

Wednesday, 11/30/05, Nashua North, 7:30 to 8:30 am

An Apple iPod and compatible Griffin iTalk voice recorder, recommended for classroom use, are included in the cost of this workshop. During this 1-hour earlybird session, participants learn the basic functions and features of their iPod and the iTalk. Participants learn how to navigate menus, setup user information, and other essential skills required to use the iPod/iTalk combination as a music player, personal management tool, and portable learning device. Cost: $330

 

MITI-03 Introduction to YOUR ReadingPen

Thursday, 12/1/05, Nashua North, 7:30 to 8:30 am

A handheld, text-scanning, talking dictionary device called a ReadingPen, recommended for classroom use, is included in the cost of this workshop. The K-12 ReadingPen recognizes over 240,000 words, featuring the American Heritage® Children's Dictionary/Thesaurus and the Spanish equivalents. During this 1-hour earlybird session, participants review tips and techniques for device setup, scanning text, and accessing the dictionary/thesaurus features. Classroom introduction and integration strategies are introduced. Cost: $110

 

Registering for a MITI workshop is a simple TWO STEP process.

Complete the MITI registration form (found at both the conference website –www.nhcmtc.org – or in the CMTC Conference Program), by electing the MITI workshops you would like to attend.

 
STEP 2:

The deadline for registering for MITI early-bird workshops is November 4, 2005.

Follow-up MITI workshops on these devices, Palm handheld computers, and GPS units will be held in the fall of 2005 and the winter and spring of 2006. Keep an eye on the NHSTE website for more details.
