NHSTE as an organization recognizes the incredible need to support SIGs in various forms all across the state. For years we've had a SIG for our Technology Coordinators, in the past few years we've started SIGs for:
Technology Teachers / Integrators
First Class Administrators
FiIRST Lego League
Tech Coordinators
Tech Engineers - listserv
Special Education and Adaptive Technologies - listserv
Each are in different, albeit early stages. We are looking to expand our range of SIGs. We see SIGs coming in two categories:
Technology-Related - Tech Teachers/Integrators, Computer Programming Teachers, Technology Coordinators...
Services-Related* - Food Service Directors, Maintenance Directors, World Language Teachers...
*we offer these services to only pre-established state groups/organizations
The basic services we offer to a SIG include:
1. Use of a listserv
2. Use of a homepage
3. Use of a depository to share files.
The advanced services we offer include:
1. In additon, based on the need of the group, we are willing to host meetings.
2. Creation of a strand at one of our conference for SIG members.
Presently we offer services at no charge for the first two years to establish the SIG - beyond that point - we seek a small fee to cover the upkeep costs.
