5-Hour AI Virtual Workshop from iste+ascd (01 Jan 2026)

NHSTE is excited to announce continuation of this
NHSTE & iste+ascd

professional learning collaboration . . .

As part of NHSTE’s partnership with iste+ascd we are offering NHSTE members the opportunity to sign up for Virtual GenAI Courses designed by ISTE.

iste+ascd is offering two virtual course options:

5-hour Virtual GenAI self-paced course that is offered on a rolling basis
15-hour Virtual GenAI guided course with scheduled sessions with deadlines for assignments. (summer 2026 cohort to be announced this spring)

Please note that iste+ascd is offering scholarships to participate in both courses. The AI course scholarships are offered as part of a larger project with grant funding. iste+ascd expects that most all NH educators will qualify for grant funding. This 5-hour course is only available through scholarship and is not available for purchase. Interested educators apply through iste+ascd.

Course details ~ 5-hour self-paced format:

The 5-hour self-paced course guides educators through practical applications of AI in teaching and learning. Participants explore current AI tools, develop implementation strategies, and learn best practices for enhancing instruction through AI technology. Upon course completion, participants receive a certificate of completion with the course hours listed. The 5-hour course has a six-month window for completion once an educator registers.

Note: The 16th question in the application asks, “Which organization shared this opportunity with you?” Make sure to write in NHSTE. The last question in the application asks, “If you were referred by an ISTE partner, please choose which one." ~ make sure to select NHSTE.

Audience:

All K-12 educators and administrators are invited to attend.

Cost:

NHSTE Premium & Basic Members: FREE if you meet the *selection criteria"
*iste+ascd expects that most all New Hampshire educators will meet the selection criteria

Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful summer. Some of you have already welcomed students back, while others are just days away.

Last spring, concerns about student screen time, online safety, and data privacy came to the forefront for parents, school boards, and policymakers. As the new school year begins, districts have an opportunity to turn those concerns into clear, trusted technology practices.

Join Dr. Karla Burkholder, CETL, Deputy Executive Director of Texas Education Technology Leaders and former TCEA president, and Jaime Casap, former Chief Education Evangelist at Google, for a practical conversation on what district leaders should do next.

Together, they will explore how schools can address screen-time concerns, protect student data, and rebuild trust in the technology decisions that support teaching and learning.

With over 30 years of K-12 experience, she serves in a large public school district, where she supports educators in using instructional technology and artificial intelligence in meaningful, ethical, and practical ways.

In addition to her district work, Dr. Tejeda teaches graduate-level education courses as an adjunct professor, bringing together instructional practice, educator preparation, and research-based approaches to teaching and learning. Her work focuses on building teacher capacity, supporting diverse learners, and helping educators use AI to make differentiation more sustainable while keeping empathy and professional judgment at the center of instruction.

ALICE BARR is a retired technology integrator from the Yarmouth SD in Maine. She is a fantastic educator who has taught and traveled on five continents. She is a Google Certified Innovator and a past recipient of ACTEM's ACHIEVE Award plus the John Lunt Friend of Technology Award. These awards recognize individuals who have significantly contributed to education and technology integration in Maine. Alice lead our previous collaborative book study and is excited to facilitate this book study in March.

This year we acknowledge and honor the sacrifice made by Christa McAuliffe and her fellow astronauts on the 40th anniversary of the Challenger tragedy.

Yet we celebrate 40 years of the Christa McAuliffe Transforming, Teaching, & Learning Conference ~ the only professional learning event that brings school/district administrators, classroom educators, technology leaders, library media specialists, and edtech solution partners together to brainstorm, dialog, learn, and address the many opportunities and challenges of learning in the digital age.
