Join NHSTE for a two-part virtual book group focused on reading in the digital age.

REMINDER ~ Part 2 is on Wednesday, October 25th starting at 3:30pm.

Reader, Come Home: The Reading Brain in the Digital World  by leading researcher Dr. Maryanne Wolf is a recent publication that dives into the brain while reading print and digitally.  Its information provides a variety of research regarding brain science of reading, includes a fascinating perspective on reading digitally, and will certainly provoke a lively discussion amongst technology-using educators.

Audience: 

  • All K-12 educators and administrators are invited to attend.


Details: 

  • Pre-registration is required.  
  • Eight (8) professional development hours will be awarded to those who participate in both virtual book group meetings.  
  • To simplify logistics, participants are asked to purchase the book on their own.  The link above goes directly to the Amazon listing ($13.85).  There are also used copies readily available on eBay.

Caitlin Bennett is a creative and dynamic NH educator with a passion for innovative, yet pragmatic, instruction.  Prior to her current DLS role in Londonderry, she was a school librarian for nine years.  She is also serving as the NHSTE Professional Learning Newsletter designer.  She served as a President of the NH School Library Media Association (NHSLMA).  She is a co-creator of the Collaboratory Makerspace at the NH Christa McAuliffe Technology Conference.  She is a seasoned presenter and professional development facilitator.  She was a presenter with the Bureau of Education & Research, presenting a day-long seminar entitled “Best Strategies & Resources for Strengthening Your Students' Information Literacy Skills.”  She has also been the keynote speaker of the 2018 NH Google Summit and the 2017 South Coast Maine Google Summit.  Her expertise surrounds digital technology in education, information literacy, and designing relevant professional development for educators.  Outside of her professional work, Caitlin enjoys time with her family, getting outside, cooking great food, and sipping on an iced coffee.
