A teacher wants her students to make movies to share their writing and art work. I think she's looking for something longer than the 30 sec. we could do w/ Animoto. Thinking about using moviemaker but was wondering if you could suggest something else that you've had good luck with.  Thanks -   Sue

Here are a couple of responses. Add your own ideas.

We just loaded VSDC - free video editing software on our labs. It is free and does green screen. Much more rich and versatile than Movie Maker. We painted a wall in our middle school green to facilitate this.

On the tablet/phone side the kids overwhelming use WeVideo. Again free product. Recently 7th grade book trailers. Students could use any software they wanted. WeVideo was the most used. - Deb

I would suggest using an iPad/i Pod Touch and iMovie.  I have used Movie Maker in the past and I find it to be clunky at best.  It is very easy to take the video on the iPad/i Pod Touch and then funnel it right into iMovie to edit.  This does mean you would need to have iMovie on the iPad.  It is a paid app. - Theresa
